Mom of the Month - April 2024

MAMA OF THE MONTH | CORRINE

April, 2024 FIT4MOM East DuPage West Cook

Each month we select a member of the FIT4MOM EDWC community who we think deserves some recognition for their hard work, lively spirit, and dedication to FIT4MOM.

This month, we're spotlighting, Corinne!

Continue reading to learn more about her, her FIT4MOM story, some instructor Shout Outs and a sweet moment between her and her daughter that even makes me a little teary.

East DuPage West Cook (EDWC): Tell us about who is in your family.

Corrine (C): My husbad Filip, Milena (4), Alexandra (1)

EDWC: Where is your hometown? What town do you live in now?

C: I grew up in Homer Glen, and I now live in Westchester

EDWC: What's your career?

C: I am a Supervisor in Corporate Accounting at ITW (Illinois Tool Works)

EDWC: How long have you been with FIT4MOM East DuPage West Cook, and what has it done for you?

C: I first joined Fit4Mom back in Feb 2020 after having my first child. My firstborn had colic and even though it was such a struggle to leave the house with her, these stroller classes were my lifeline. Talking with the other moms and them telling me it was going to be ok without any judgement was exactly what I needed. Then after I had my youngest in Jan 2023, I knew I was going to be a part of this community again as soon as I got cleared to exercise, I couldn't wait! Moms supporting other Moms is the best part of this community and every member just accepts everyone and it is so wonderful!

(Shoutout to Eve and Kimberly for being the amazing instructors when I started my journey again with Fit4Mom and how they made me feel so welcome!)

Yes! We're big fans of Eve and Kimberly too!

EDWC: What is your favorite part about class?

C: The other Moms! I get a great workout, some laughs, and some fresh air on days it is nice enough to be outside, there is no better feeling!

EDWC: What is something that has surprised you about motherhood?

C: The realization of how little alone time you will have from now on. The moments where no one needs you is few and far between at this age, which is why I cherish the one hour Saturday mornings at Body Boost so I can get some "me time" in before the weekend gets started! Though it is also wonderful that if I can't make that class then I can still bring the girls to Stroller and bond with them while doing something for me.

Love that you're finding tie for you in the chaos that is motherhood!

EDWC: What are three of your favorite things?

C: Being outside hiking in summer or snowboarding in winter, yoga, and dessert

EDWC: What is your proudest mommy moment so far?

C: Getting through the first COVID year with a colicky baby while working full time

EDWC: What advice would you give to a new mother?

C: No advice, just support - You've got this and you're doing great Mama!

LOVE THAT!

EDWC: Anything else you'd like to add?

C: When I get the chance to come to stroller classes with my girls, I love how it shows strong moms taking time for themselves to get exercise in. My daughter was so impressed with seeing the other moms working hard and she commented, "they are all so strong" and it made me tear up because I know all moms are more than just physically strong. What a great example to show our children!

Making me tear up too! Thank you so much for sharing Corrine, so happy to have you here with us :)
